Setting up a cronjob: guides for common systems

Many systems need a regular nudge from outside so that scheduled posts appear, orders keep moving and backups start. Without a server of your own this works through a call by address. For each system below you get the address to call, what you have to change beforehand and how often the call makes sense.

Plugins

The quickest way: the plugin knows the right address and opens the cron job at Cronjob.de pre-filled – you just save.

Web space and hosting providers

The approach that works on any web space – and what your host can do out of the box, where the limit is and what else you can do.

CMS

What you have to change inside the system and which address gets called.

Applications

What you have to change in the application and which address gets called.

Online shops

What you have to change in the shop and which address gets called.

Monitoring cron jobs

Your job already runs – on your own server, in n8n, Supabase or Vercel? With a heartbeat it checks in after every run, and we alert you when the check-in is missing.

Your system is not listed? The approach is almost always the same: you enter the address that triggers your system's cron and set the schedule. If you are unsure which address that is in your case, drop us a line via the contact form.

Not sure yet whether you need a cron job service at all? The comparison of your own server, your host's cron manager and a call from outside shows which way fits when – including when you do not need us.
